What if I told you the 2026 Durango Hellcat is not banned after all? A dealer document says sales open for orders in all CARB states in December. That lines up with what I heard after Roadkill Nights and the later updates. Let’s break down what changed, what still hangs, and how to order without headache.

The news in one glance
The Durango Hellcat went from blocked in 17 CARB states, to blocked in seven, to 50‑state okay in December. That’s the arc. If you live in a CARB state, the window to place an order is close.
How we got here
In August, launch sheets showed CARB blocks for both the Hellcat and the 392 trims. Dealers saw the same notes. In October, I reported that only seven CARB states still blocked the Hellcat. Talks kept going in the background. Now the internal note says sales across all fifty states start in December. That is the green light many of you needed.

Why this helps more than one model
The Durango Hellcat shares a lot with other big Mopar rigs. The Ram TRX uses similar hard parts. The previous Grand Cherokee Trackhawk did, too. If the Durango Hellcat clears CARB for a supercharged V8, the upcoming 2026 Ram TRX should follow under the same rules. That keeps the door open for future Hellcat SUVs if the business case works.
Also, the timing fits other news. I’ve posted several TRX videos that points to a reveal soon. You can read that here: NASCAR Tease and TRX Reveal.
The 392 Hemi question mark
Here’s the part with no bow on it. Dealers still have no memo on the 392 Hemi in CARB states. In August, 392 was blocked in all 17. In October, nothing changed for that motor. As of today, still nothing new from the factory channels. So plan as if the 2026 Dodge Durango RT 392 stays blocked for now. When I see a real update, I’ll bring it here.
Stop the markup circus before it starts
We all remember the 2018 Demon and 2023 Demon 170 mess. Don’t repeat it. Put everything in writing now. MSRP, fees, and timing. If a store pushes “extra products,” say no and walk. Post the good dealers you find. Help other buyers dodge the traps (pun intended).
Quick answers
Is the Durango Hellcat banned in CARB states? No. A dealer document shows 50‑state sales in December.
Can I place an order now? Ask your local dealer. Some stores open orders as soon as the memo hits.
What about the 392? No new guidance yet. Treat it as still blocked in CARB states until a memo says otherwise.
Bottom line
The Durango Hellcat is set to go 50‑state legal in December. That is big for fans in CARB states who want supercharged V8 power with seats for the whole crew. Get your order plan ready, keep markups in check, and watch for the 392 memo next.
