Dodge Hints at HEMI-Powered Charger Coming Sooner Than Expected
Just when many thought the Dodge Charger Daytona EV and Hurricane inline-six models were the only future offerings, Dodge may have tipped its hand. A recent update to the official Dodge build site included a teaser that “more models are coming soon”—fueling speculation that a HEMI-powered Charger could return earlier than the 2027 timeline many insiders expected.
For months, Mopar enthusiasts have been lukewarm on the Charger Daytona EV and modestly interested in the Hurricane inline-six Scat Pack. But while the Hurricane proved its performance chops at Roadkill Nights and in aftermarket builds, the demand still centers on one thing: the HEMI. Dodge knows it. Stellantis knows it. And the market has made it clear. Sales numbers for the EV are weak, Jeep is already bringing HEMIs back, and Ram has reignited excitement with its V8-powered trucks. It’s only a matter of time before Dodge follows suit.
Financial pressure may accelerate the timeline. Stellantis is already facing multi-billion-dollar losses this year, and the return of the HEMI Charger could be the antidote to sluggish sales. Enthusiasts don’t just want horsepower—they want the sound, the character, and the aftermarket potential of the HEMI V8. As one insider video showed, the engine bay of the new Charger platform is more than capable of housing a 6.2L or even a 426 HEMI.
Whether it’s a mid-cycle update, a special edition, or a full HEMI lineup reveal, the writing is on the wall. Dodge wouldn’t be teasing “more models” now if nothing were imminent. With Jeep, Ram, and even the Gladiator preparing for HEMI variants, it’s clear Stellantis is betting big on V8s again.
If Q3 sales for the Hurricane-powered Charger don’t meet expectations, expect Dodge to pull the trigger on a HEMI announcement much sooner than 2027. For enthusiasts, that means the wait for a true muscle car revival might be shorter than anyone thought.
One thing’s certain: the HEMI isn’t dead—it’s just getting started again.
