We are back at TK’s Garage with the massive Ram 2500 Big Horn. Currently, the focus is entirely on preparing this heavy-duty truck for its upcoming giveaway. However, we recently spotted a few minor cosmetic issues. Therefore, we are addressing these paint defects immediately.
I noticed a couple of small things with the paint that need attention. As a result, we are heading out to fix everything. Ultimately, the goal is to have the truck ready and flawless for the future winner. When it comes to these giveaway vehicles, I am an absolute perfectionist.
I want these trucks to be perfect for the people entering to win them. Consequently, we are taking the Ram 2500 to a local shop to handle the work. Specifically, we need a good Dual Action (DA) buffing of the paint. Ideally, this process will remove the imperfections without requiring a repaint.
Heading to The Lab in Las Vegas
It is a beautiful day here in Las Vegas for a drive. Before arriving at the shop, however, I needed a quick stop for breakfast. Although BA has been trying to get me to go to Chick-fil-A more often, I resisted today. Instead, I stuck with McDonald’s.
There is just something undeniably good about that McDonald’s coffee and an Egg McMuffin in the morning. After fueling up, we headed straight to the body shop to address the paint issues. We are going to see if they can simply buff out the scratches. Furthermore, we need to assess the cost to finish the job completely.
We are using a shop called The Lab. Interestingly, they do all kinds of work here outside of just detailing. For example, they handle vehicle wraps and rims as well. They originally found me through YouTube and Instagram.
We have been chopping it up with them for a while now. They do really good work at this facility. Therefore, I definitely recommend checking out The Lab if you are in the Las Vegas area.
Assessing the Paint Correction Results
After leaving the truck with them, the results were ready for inspection. The small scratches we previously saw in the back of the bed are now completely gone. Additionally, the scratch on the back of the truck has vanished. I absolutely love how it turned out.
Currently, there is a little bit of watermark residue visible on the paint. However, the shop explained that this will come out easily when we wash the truck. It is similar to wax residue in that regard. Most importantly, the one deep scratch that concerned me is history.
That specific scratch sat on the side, and it worried me initially. Fortunately, it is now gone. The shop clarified that the marks were actually superficial scuffs rather than deep gouges. It looked like something had simply rubbed against the panel, such as a tree branch.
Because the damage was not deep, it was easy for them to clean it up effectively. Now, the body panels are smooth and free of those distracting marks. To be honest, you really could not see them from a distance anyway. Nevertheless, I demand perfection for the winner of this Ram 2500.
New Tint and Exterior Upgrades
In addition to the paint correction, The Lab also applied new tint to the vehicle. That explains why the truck looks a little darker than it did in the original video. They performed the tint job right after they DA buffed and cleaned up the body panels.
The truck looks significantly cleaner and more aggressive now. It is big, it is red, and it is ready for the road. Since it is Christmastime, the bright red paint is fitting. I might even have to yell “Ho Ho Ho” while driving it down the road. After all, I look a little bit like Santa Claus next to it.
