Ram SUV Confirmed: The Ramcharger I Want
I told you this was coming. Ram is getting a full-size SUV. I called it. And the name? Ramcharger fits. They pulled that badge off the hybrid truck. That move made sense only if this SUV was next. Name power sells. Badges matter. People buy stories they can say out loud.
What it’s built on
Keep it simple. Body-on-frame. Built at Warren alongside the updated 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Four doors only. No two door toy. Might suck for classic Ramcharger fans that want a two door SUV to return but I don’t see that happening. I expect a four door.
Base it on the Grand Wagoneer bones which could bring a hybrid version as well. That saves time and cash. But it should look and feel like a Ram, not a Jeep in a Ram hat.
The right target
Aim straight at the GMC Yukon. That’s the lane. Yukon has clear trims. Street. Luxury. Off-road. Ram can mirror that and win on looks, power, and price.
Let Jeep keep swinging at Escalade. If Chrysler joins the party later, let them go at Tahoe. Clean brand space. No overlap. No confusion.
Drivetrain needs
Use TRX drivetrain for the guts. All-wheel drive should be standard on the hot trims. It worked on Durango Hellcat and Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Big power needs grip. It saves parts and makes super cars cry.
Offer many engines. Start with the Hurricane for folks who want boost and not worried about exhaust sounds. Keep Hemi options for the sound and the feel. Top it with a Hellcat Ramcharger. All-wheel drive, all the time. No burnouts on one wheel. No drama, just speed.
If the TRX can take it, this SUV can too. Same beefed up parts. Same heavy duty bits. Just tuned for a three-row.
Jeep missed a shot
Jeep should have dropped a Hellcat in the Grand Wagoneer. Escalade-V owns the city streets right now. I see blacked out ones everywhere. They start high and still sell.
Ram can snipe that crowd. A Hellcat Ramcharger would undercut price and soak up sales. Big noise. Big speed. Room for seven. That wins school runs and valet lines.
Inside matters
Ram must level up the cabin. GM split the field here.
Chevy is fine. Basic and clear. GMC feels closer to Ram’s style, with a big center screen and clean lines. Escalade goes wild with that long curved glass from driver to passenger. It looks rich the second you sit down.
Ram should answer that. Give us a wide, clean dash. One long piece of glass that feels solid. Keep real knobs for volume and temp. Good materials, tight gaps, smart storage. USB everywhere. Wireless CarPlay and Android. Second row captain’s chairs that fold fast and flat. Third row that fits adults who ate lunch.
Trims that make sense
Do a simple stack.
- Tradesman/Big Horn: Cloth, smart screen, tow ready, good price.
- Laramie: Nicer seats, better sound, more tech.
- Limited/Tungsten: Full luxury. Massaging seats. Thick leather. Big glass.
- Off-Road: Lift, skid plates, locker, all-terrain tires.
- TRX/Hellcat: The halo. Wide stance. Big brakes. Loud pipes. All-wheel drive all day.
Keep options clean. Tow package that just works. Air ride for comfort and height. A real trailer camera system. Big fuel tank. Roof rack that doesn’t howl.
Looks that sell
Give it a Ram face. Not a Wagoneer face. Think Tungsten grille and lights. Strong jaw. Clean hood.
Sides should be honest. No fake vents. Sharp wheel openings. Meaty tires on real wheels. Tailgate with a strong Ram badge, not a book report.
Color game matters too. Bright white, gloss black, and that deep blue. Plus a tough sand color for the off-road trim. Keep chrome low unless the buyer wants it.
Why it will outsell Grand Wagoneer
Price it right under Yukon trim for trim. People trust Ram trucks. They like how they ride and feel. That carries over.
Grand Wagoneer is nice, but the badge pulls a smaller crowd. Ram has a wider reach with truck owners. They will pick the Ram look and the Ram dealer they know.
What about Dodge and Durango
Dodge doesn’t need a full-size SUV. The badge is muscle. Let it stay lean and mean.
The Durango stays for now. Sales are still solid. Dodge opened more options on the hot trims to keep it fresh. A new model will come later. Expect gas engines in the mix when it does.
My simple blueprint
- Build it at Warren on the Wagoneer frame.
- Make it look like a Ram, not a Jeep.
- Aim at Yukon on price and trims.
- Use TRX parts for the top trims.
- Offer Hurricane, Hemi, and a Hellcat halo.
- Keep the hot one all-wheel drive all the time.
- Step up the cabin with a wide, clean screen.
- Make towing easy and safe out of the box.
I’m ready to see it. And I want to drive it.
Drop your take in the comments. Should Ram go full TRX with this? Should Chrysler get a full-size too? What would make you buy this over a Yukon or Escalade?
